38 St Giles
Norwich, East Anglia
Eating
The breakfast at 38 St Giles is an absolute treat so our
advice is sleep late and come down hungry. There's a full range of
organic cereals and yogurts, along with berries and local honey
complete with its comb. Then, tuck into fresh croissants and
just-squeezed OJ while you deliberate over the cooked
options.
The porridge with caramelised apple was superb; so too were the
poached eggs with wilted spinach on sourdough bread. If we'd been
staying 2 nights, we'd have tried the buttermilk pancakes
with Norfolk bacon and the classic smoked salmon with scrambled
eggs. For purists, there's a Full English option.
Light suppers are available in-room Sun-Thurs, but with so
many great restaurants on your doorstep, we'd advise going out for
lunch and dinner. Recommended is The Vine for Thai, The
Library for Sunday lunch, Tolero for great tapas and a
Saturday-night atmosphere, or the hip By Appointment for
something special.
