There’s lots of brilliant colour, Indian textiles and imaginative design throughout, especially in its 6 spacious [r:IS082:rooms], whose upgraded bathrooms are lined in grey marble. It has a communal lobby/dining room with Rajasthani furniture, a raspberry-pink settle and vintage Bollywood posters, while upstairs there's an atmospheric wicker-furnished terrace, swathed in brilliant fabric and hung with fairylights and lanterns. It’s set in a wealthy suburb, about 10km south of the Central Secretariat. Despite being out of the centre, Hauz Khas is a great base in Delhi, as it’s leafy and relatively laid back. Plus it has an ancient water tank, surrounded by some ruined madrasas (religious schools) and tombs, as well as lots of interesting boutiques, a market and some good restaurants. There are 2 managers, one French and one local, who can arrange onward travel and transfers.
