Ca'n Reus
Fornalutx, Mallorca
Adorable, homely little hotel with fabulous mountain views in Mallorca's prettiest village - perfect for walkers
Fornalutx is a beautiful little village - a cluster of old,
honey-coloured stone houses, set against a spectacular backdrop of
Mallorca's highest mountains and a valley stretching down to
Soller. Tucked away in one of its sleepy cobbled lanes is Ca'n
Reus, a typical 18th century Mallorquin village house, which has
been sensitively and tastefully restored. You can gaze out from its
terrace or enchanting small garden to a truly wonderful vista with
ancient olive trees and citrus groves. Go walking, breathe in the
mountain air filled with the sweet scent of orange blossom, then
snooze in the orchard. In the evening enjoy the richness of the
dusk light moving across the craggy mountains.
British owner, Sue Guthrie, first came to Fornalutx as a child and
has loved the island ever since, determined to retain the essential
Mallorquin character of Ca'n Reus while making some improvements.
With a passion for the surrounding mountains, she can give advice
on the best walks, prepare robust walkers' picnics, book
restaurants en route and act as a guide, if requested.

Highs
- Unpretentious and friendly ambience
- Superb location in the heart of a tranquil village with majestic mountain views
- Beautiful terrace which is a real sun trap in the summer months
- Traditional Mallorquin breakfast feasts
- One of the most characterful and cosy hotels in Mallorca
- i-escape guests receive a complimentary bottle of Cava on arrival!
Lows
- Parking is impossible outside the hotel but there is a village car park a few hundred yards away
- Some rooms are quite dark and we found the lighting too dim to read in the evenings (better to have a back facing room)
- You will have to drive to get to a beach but they have a small pool in the orchard so you can take a refreshing dip in summer
- No TV, phones or minibars, but there is an honesty bar
Lovely light drizzled Ca'n Reus, a faux-Parisian house, has exquisite features and epic views...
