Chateau Mcely
Mcely, Bohemia, Czech Republic
Press Reviews
Conde Nast Traveller (UK), March 2011
"Drive an hour and a half into the countryside to Chateau Mcely,
palatial former home of the aristocratic Thurn-Taxis family, now
converted into an eco spa and surrounded by forests in which to
hike, walk and horse ride."
The Independent, November 2008
"We arrived at Chateau Mcely to find wine, salad and fruit laid out
in our beautiful white room. We slept in the next day, waking to
breakfast in bed. I opened a window to enjoy a silence broken only
by peacocks calling across the lawn. There is truly wonderful food,
massages from silent Thai ladies, restorative walks deep into the
forest and gorgeous furnishings to recline on, many of them
handmade by Czech craftsmen."
Conde Nast Traveller (UK), July 2008
"Once inside we encountered the excellent service that
characterises this 24-room hotel as we were poured herbal tea from
a silver pot and led to a lift, decorated with gold rambling roses,
to be shown to our room... The 17th-century chateau [has been
transformed] from a dilapidated shell into a treacle-coloured,
baroque beauty. The interior design may be a little extravagant,
with its swagged curtain pelmets and reproduction baroque
furniture, but it's certainly luxurious. And luxury is what Chateau
Mcely does, with diamond-encrusted bells on."

“I thought the standard of everything at Mcely was truly excellent! It was a six star experience. The food was one of the best we had in Czech Republic and we will certainly visit again, thanks”
