Press Reviews

Telegraph, August 2010
"This grand, 16th-century courtyard house has been owned by the Moragues family for 250 years and has been a hotel for the past nine. Though no longer their home, the hotel is still a family affair and manager Ferran Moragues is so proud of his ancestry that he will gladly drop all duties to give guests a guided tour. The antique furniture has been passed down through the generations and many of the paintings have been restored by Ferran's mother."

Lonely Planet
"This intimate aristocratic manor-house-turned-hotel dates to 1500 and is filled with art and antique furniture that evokes those days gone by. Museum-worthy paintings, tapestries, chandeliers and canopied beds decorate the rooms, whose ceilings are held up by timber beams. Modern concessions include womb-like jacuzzis and an elevator... While 21st century demands are well attended to, the allure of old-world Mallorca is what makes this small family-run hotel such a treat."

Conde Nast Traveller (UK)
"Palma's smartest new arrival is this family-owned townhouse adorned with tapestries, cherubim and chandeliers. Situated in a narrow street in the Gothic part of the Old Town, handy for the Arab baths, musuem and main churches. As in most city-centre hotels, there is no restaurant and breakfast is served in the courtyard garden under a lemon tree."

  • “A fantastic very reasonably priced little hotel in the heart of old town. If you don't mind the romantic sound of cathedral bells often and a somewhat hard mattress this is the place. We personally loved the bells!!! Although we would have loved a softer/less lumpy mattress and a couple of more pillows. The room was beyond charming and the setting was fab!!!”

  • “it really is hard to find - I took a cab and the driver dropped me off - told me it was right down the non driveable road - only it wasn't and then i was stuck wondering around - not the hotel's fault but I recommend really making sure the taxi knows the location. The hotel had fantastic views and was in a perfect location. If you get a room with only a shower the shower may be very small.”

  • “Great hotel in the middle of the old town. The lemon and orange trees in the courtyard gave off fantastic fragrance - quite magical.”

  • “Really enjoyed our stay. Location excellent,in heart of city but very quiet. Room had a great view of cathedral and was light and spacious, bed very comfortable, shower good. Nice to pick lemon for G&T from the courtyard. Would definitely stay again when in Palma.”

  • “The staff were very good and recommended and booked restaurants for us which were excellent. The Hotel was situated perfectly for us right in the middle of the historic buildings. Excellent stay would definitely recommend it.”

  • “The room was so basic, I asked for an alternative and they did upgrade us to a huge room, which was much nicer. There were roadworks going on outside (which was probably why it was empty!), but he did warn of this.
LOVED the area. So many squares to have a drink. The old city was beautiful. The harbour strip was also interesting - about 20 min walk from the hotel A useful tip would have been to be informed as to where all the restaurants were! We walked for ages and couldn't find anything (in the old town). They are - below the castle and across the street - about 3 streets of restaurants, and some outside.”

  • “We enjoyed staying here. The location was excellent with lots of character and we had an amazing bathroom! We thought this was a fine example of a family run hotel.
Fantastic place for ice cream on the corner .
Do consult the management about where to go to eat at night as most of the old town restaurants ,bars and cafes are closed early evening.”

  • “We had a great stay at Dalt Murada, the location was excellent.
The room was spacious and clean and the staff were helpful and efficient.
The breakfasts were lovely and were enjoyed on the outside courtyard.
We also loved the roof terrace and watched the sun dissapear with a nice bottle of wine from the Hotel Bar. We would recommend Hotel Dalt Murada to anyone wishing to see the sights of Palma.”

  • “Very unique place to stay! Excellent views but under mild construction at the time we stayed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location, clean, great air conditioning. We would definitely stay again!”

  • “Dalt Murada is a mass of contradictions.
The suite we'd booked was AMAZING - a huge, beautifully decorated room with beautiful furniture and a fantastic view of Palma's cathedral. The hotel's location is also brilliant - in the heart of Palma's old town and walking distance from major tourist attractions, great bars as well as the edgier, more interesting Santa Catalina district in one direction and Portixol, a lovely spot by the sea 20 minutes walk east from the hotel...
BUT the hotel's communal areas are lacking in atmosphere, the breakfast is really poor (especially as it's not included in the room tariff) and the vibe is much more youth hostel than luxury hotel...
It's definitely worth a stay for the rooms but the hotel needs to pay more attention to detail to merit the cost.”
    Tom, United Kingdom (12.07.10)

  • “Pleasant place in the middle of the old city of Palma. Don't come with a car!
The room was very nice, with tasteful old furniture and oil paintings at the wall.
Could imagine we would come again.”
    Martina, Germany (27.06.10)

  • “We felt that there was a lack of the personal touch and that the hotel could have done with another person to look after guests, give advice etc.”
    Jacqueline, United Kingdom (02.06.10)

Save to favouritesPrintMailDalt MuradaJust yards from Palma's magnificent cathedral, Hotel Dalt Murada is tucked away in a peaceful alley. In medieval times it belonged to one of Mallorca's most important families. Later it became the residence of the Bestard de la Torre family who have spent the last few years transforming their home into an elegant yet friendly small hotel. Much of the original character has been retained: high beamed ceilings, old portraits and antique furniture (including some beautiful Mallorquin beds); while private Jacuzzis, satellite television and dedicated internet lines, bring the hotel into the 21st-century. There's a large leafy courtyard filled with lemon and orange trees, perfect for alfresco breakfasts, and a host of excellent restaurants and tapas bars within walking distance. Palma makes an ideal short break and Dalt Murada the perfect retreat for both romantics and families.
