High Road House
Chiswick, London
Part of the celebrated Soho House clan, this playful hotel in a leafy London suburb has 14 airy Cape-Cod-style rooms and a buzzy guest-and-member-only restaurant/lounge
A coach house in Somerset, a warehouse in
New York -
the Soho House venture into hotel accommodation always had an eye
for the eclectic. And this little gem, High Road House, in the
upscale West London enclave of Chiswick is no exception. In a
listed building that was once an ice-cream parlour can be found a
baker’s dozen of bright and breezy bedrooms . The
emphasis is on play at HRH: there's a games room, cinema, bar and
lounge area downstairs known collectively as the Playpen and
Playground and the largest of the bedrooms is called the Playroom.
Upstairs is for the more sophisticated play of fine dining, with a
chic but comfortable
restaurant
serving modern British fare with a superb wine list.
HRH is also a private members club, with a well-heeled list of
media folk and professional couples who use the facilities
regularly, although it's never jammed like the original Soho House
in central London can be. And that's the appeal - all the sharp
service and style of the city sister in an altogether more rarified
part of town.

Highs
- The clean and uncluttered rooms have white wood, big beds, crisp linen and power showers with Cowshed products
- The top-notch in-house restaurant and the lively brasserie next door serve a great mix of British and bistro food
- There's free WiFi throughout, as well as a cinema and games room
- There are regular DJ and live music sessions and film, comedy and quiz nights are also organised
- The staff are young, friendly and most proficient (and always smiling!)
Lows
- Breakfast is not included in the room rate and a few may find it expensive
- You're in the leafy suburbs of west London, so the city centre is half an hour away by tube
- Some of the rooms are small and don't face the high street but rather non-descript rooftops with pigeons
An exceedingly fun and good-value choice for a West London stay...
