Hotel Cocoon
Salvador, Brazil
Eating
The hotel's airy, outdoor restaurant, next to the pool, serves a
hearty breakfast of coffee or tea, juices, and yoghurt and
bread, as well as some more uniquely Brazilian touches such as cake
and biscuits.
At lunchtime you can get lighter meals such as salads and
sandwiches, while from 7pm onwards there's a dinner menu of
mainly Italian-inspired dishes. Afterwards, chill out in the
cocktail lounge and try the house drink: a blend of Absolut
vodka and Cachaca Sagatiba, or the non-alcoholic acai
(the recently discovered fruit from the Amazon, mixed with guarana
and banana).
If you fancy something different, there's a pizza place
directly opposite, or you could grab snacks from the Esso garage.
On the beach (5 minutes' walk away) there are plenty of bar-shacks,
and lots of vendors selling fresh, chilled coconuts. For a fuller
range of restaurants (such as in the Pelhourinho district or
down by the marina) you'll have to jump in a cab - expect a drive
of 15-30 minutes, depending on traffic.
