"The Josef stands as the new home for tasteful minimalism in the
new Bohemia. It is the hippest of Prague's new hip hotels.
British-based architect Eva Jiricná brings a new study on
the interior use of glass to her native land with its own long
history of the glazier's craft. Every piece of space breathes with
life and light, breaking the stuffy mold of most high-end
hotels.
She uses modern glass walls, tables, and chairs bathed with the
light of modern lighting fixtures to offset funky yellows and
greens, and even rust-colored bedspreads are thrown in. There is a
daring and dramatic effect in every room. Superior rooms are so
bold as to offer transparent bath nooks, shower stalls, and
washrooms with a full view of grooming activities for your partner
to absorb in the main sleeping chamber. Room no. 801, a penthouse
suite with a magnificent vista of the Prague skyline, is highly
sought-after for those who want to absorb the golden city in its
full glory."

"You cannot miss the pink and orange façade of the Josef
— located in Josefov, the old Jewish quarter. It's one of the
only boutique hotels in the city centre and conveniently located
next to the elegant Parizka street with its shops and cocktail
bars, and the Old Town Square. The glass bathrooms and
beautifully-upholstered interiors were designed by Eva Jiricna, who
has worked on hotels in London and Paris. For the best views go for
the upper floor rooms in the pink house."

"Designed by Czech-born, London-based minimalist architect Eva
Jircina, the 110-room hotel near the old Jewish Quarter consists of
two harmoniously geometric buildings, studded with pierced metal
sunshades, that flow around a small courtyard. Bedrooms are
cleverly compact and functional, with lots of glass and
light."
Business Traveller, April 2007
"The boutique hotel market has been led by the Eva Jiricna-designed
Hotel Josef, now celebrating its fifth year (and second opening
after the "worst in living memory" floods of 2002). The Josef
comprises two new buildings, the Pink and Orange Houses, which face
each other across a splash of emerald grass."
The Telegraph, August 2006
"Location: On quiet side street south-west of the centre, near the
old Jewish Quarter and nightlife area, five minutes' walk from
Wenceslas Square.
Character: Prague's first modern "design" hotel, with bright, white
and streamlined public spaces. Minimal, but elegant.
Rooms: 110 in all, over the seven and eight floors of the two
linked buildings ("Pink" and "Orange") that make up the hotel.
Vivid bedspreads and furniture add colour to the otherwise
restrained monochrome decorative scheme. The sleek glass and marble
bathrooms are divine.
Food: A great breakfast room looking through glass walls to an
appealing open courtyard.
We like: The views from the rooftop bar and the ultra-fashionable
look - if you want modern, this is the place.
Not so keen: Given the interior panache, the hotel's exterior is a
trifle bland. And rooms may be just a little too modern for some."

“Amazing location and suich friendly and knowledgeable staff who recommended cool bars, restaurants, and things to do. The room was quite noisy at night as it was was over the street but overall really really happy with it, and had a fabulous weekend in Prague. I was really impressed with i-escape and will be using you again/ always from now on.”
Sophie, United Kingdom (21.05.12)“We were delighted with this hotel. We adored the breakfast buffet - especially the “make your own juice” corner! We recommend taking a room in the peaceful orange section at the back of the hotel rather than the road-side pink section at the front. The spa at the Maximilian is also excellent and the treatments can be charged to your Josef hotel bill. The “Degustation” restaurant around the corner from the hotel is not to be missed; a fantastic opportunity for high quality local cuisine in a chic setting, without the mass tourism.”
Ann-Lea, France (21.05.12)“The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Staff were attentive and helpful. My only complaint is that the tea served was not to English or Irish taste. The reception staff provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and made the reservations for us. It was clear that we received extra attention because the booking had been made by the Hotel Josef. I would highly recommend an Italian restaurant called Aldente.”
Margaret, Ireland (21.04.12)“Service very good & helpful. We did have the best room in the place though with views over everywhere!”
David, United Kingdom (02.04.12)“Excellent breakfasts but average room service menu. The staff were very helpful with a good attitude. The rooms were a good size. The hotel was well located to the astronomical clock and the Charles Bridge.”
Caitlin, France (19.12.11)“The design of the hotel is great, the bathcsometica made by aveda is of a very excellent quality, the breakfast is really outstanding.
There are many nice restaurants near the hotel, for example the "LOKAL", which is a beerhall but in a modern way. a gourmet restaurant the "DEGUSTATION Boheme bourgoise" is also just around the corner.also a lot more in walking distance.”
