The Times, February 2011
"This is a 17th-century building that has been a given a hip, 21st-century makeover. There are 12 bedrooms decorated with antique Portuguese furniture and a spa in what was the old well. In the evening, tapas and dinner are offered on the roof terrace, which has stunning views over the town and, on a clear day, Morocco."

Conde Nast Traveller (UK), September 2010
"Among the area's most stylish hotels [is] Hotel V in pretty Vejer de la Frontera."

Red Magazine, January 2009
"Join the 'April Feria' celebrations in the Moorish town of Vejer, staying at Hotel V, a 12-room hideaway in a 17th-century manor house."

  • “One of the best experiences we've had in a long time - far surpassed our expectations! Will definitely be going back.”

  • “It was a joy to stay at Hotel V. Having stayed at other hotels in Vejer before, I was anxious about not going with another one which I could be secure about but I was so pleased to have opted for Hotel V. What a really fabulous place -the style, room, terrace and service are excellent. We also loved the little extras which we were treated to each day - the bottle of water before bed, the little biscuit on our pillows and excellent personal recommendations, are special and go towards making this a wonderful place to stay in. Vejer itself makes a great base for the Costa de la Luz. I definitely would recommend this time of year as it was a lovely temperature and yet not busy with tourists, unlike July and August. I will be back to Hotel V again one day!”

  • “Beautiful hotel, excellent location, we had a fantastic time.”

  • “A little bit difficult to find, especially in the car. But the hotel offers to arrange for a taxi to pick you up from a nearby car park where you can leave your car. Parking in the town is a problem as the small village can’t handle the traffic. The best part of the hotel is the amazing views from the rooftop terrace.”

Save to favouritesPrintMailHotel VWhen faced with the makeover of a 17th-century Vejer townhouse, Jean Van Gysel gave free rein to his love of eclectic interior design. Whilst many of the building's original features were kept in place - arches, beams, bannisters and wafer bricking - walls were rendered in eyecatching Venetian stucco, muted grey tiles laid in and out, state-of-the art bed and bathrooms created and a jacuzzi and pebbled foot-pool hoisted up onto the roof terrace. Antiques from Goa sit alongside funky black and white photos on glass and PVC, astroturf was laid in the courtyard: this is a hotel that aims to surprise at every turn. But it's the roof terrace that gives this place that extra punch: the views across the city's roofscape are simply stunning and on a clear day you can see all the way to the Moroccan Rif. With excellent food, genuinely friendly staff and the most creature-comfortable [r:SP076:bedrooms] in town, Hotel V more than earns its place in the boutique-is-beautiful rankings.
