STONEFIELD ESTATE VILLAS - REVIEW
A former cocoa plantation, Stonefield Estate is now a cluster of 1-3 bedroom cottages and villas set high in the hills above the small fishing town of Soufriere. Surrounded by verdant rain forest on one side and the towering peak of Petit Piton on the other, there are probably few places that can beat the sheer tranquillity of this venue.
A beautiful hilltop pool is the place to spend many a sun-soaked hour. The nearest beach is a 15-minute walk away, but the dark volcanic sand is not to everyone’s taste. A 10 minute drive, however, will take you to the (imported) white sands of the Jalousie Plantation Resort beach, set beneath the sheer Piton peaks.
The spacious villas, some new, others older plantation cottages, offer privacy and are ideal for families, groups of friends or couples. Those with their own pools overlooking the Caribbean make fabulous hideaways. At mealtimes you can cook for yourself or try the Mango Tree poolside restaurant. |
