Inhouse Potts Point

Sydney, NSW, Australia

Stylishly decked out one-bedroom apartment in a Victorian townhouse in hip harbourside Potts Point (sleeps 2)

There's something international – a Manhattan meets Paris feel – about Inhouse Potts Point, a chic holiday apartment in one of Sydney's most cosmopolitan areas. Which is not a complete coincidence: the owners came up with the idea to turn their own apartment into a holiday rental after visiting New York and staying in an apartment rather than a hotel.

The one bedroom apartment takes up the entire first floor of an elegant heritage listed 1891 townhouse, near other historically interesting buildings including St Vincent's Convent. Situated at the quiet end of a cul de sac leading onto busy Macleay Street at the 'Paris end' of Potts Point, Inhouse definitely has the best of both worlds. It's close to some of the city's best bars and eateries, with a healthy dose of high end clothing and homewares shopping thrown in; yet this chic apartment is surprisingly serene once inside. This is perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful hideaway in the middle of a buzzing social scene.

Highs

  • Without doubt one of the best locations in Sydney – Potts Point has a hip vibe and is close to other city attractions
  • More like a stylish home and less like a busy transit lounge - makes you feel like a local
  • Very quiet: no traffic sound from the bedroom, only birds - and great views, including glimpses of the harbour
  • Contemporary-classic interiors by a well-known Sydney interior designer, Tim Janenko-Panaif
  • North-facing townhouse keeps cool even in height of the summer, but always bright and airy
  • High speed unlimited internet, cable TV and local calls are included in the room rate, as well as a great DVD library

Lows

  • No visitor parking in the area, though the Kings Cross parking station is relatively affordable and only 5 minutes away
  • The bathtub is rather short (though very deep)
  • No children over 2 are permitted, and there are no extra beds

This one-bedroom apartment sleeping two makes for a convenient and stylish base for exploring the city...
