Getting there
From the UK to Dublin
Aer Lingus flies to Dublin
from London Heathrow, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester,
Edinburgh and Glasgow. Don't assume that it will be more expensive
than Ryanair.
Ryanair flies to Dublin from
London (Luton, Stansted and Gatwick), Aberdeen, Birmingham,
Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds,
Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.
BMI flies to Dublin from London
Heathrow.
City Jet flies to Dublin from
London City.
From the UK to Londonderry
Ryanair flies to Londonderry from
Bimingham, London (Luton & Stansted), Liverpool and Glasgow
Prestwick.
From Europe to Dublin
Aer Lingus flies to Dublin
from almost all European capitals, and many other cities besides
(currently from 43 different European cities).
Ryanair flies to Dublin from
about 20 European cities, some of them quite unexpected (Karlsruhe,
Lodz etc).
back to topGetting Around
DUBLIN
Although the traffic is terrible in the Dublin city environs, the
relative lack of an integrated transport network means you'll be
getting taxis to get about. The buses are pretty good
although they do get snarled up in the traffic. From the airport
there is a special blue Airport bus which takes you into the heart
of the city centre and the driver will help you with your luggage.
The new light urban rail system, the LUAS, is very popular
and easy to navigate, however there are only a couple of
lines.
AROUND IRELAND
The vast majority will hire a car to see all corners of the Emerald
Isle - we recommend
Holiday
Autos who are usually the cheapest and you can collect your
car at most airports or city centres. If you're flying into
Londonderry (also called Derry), you'll need to book with
Europcar,
Hertz or
Argus as Holiday Autos
don't currently have an office there.
There is a reasonable train network - for example it is only
2 hours from Dublin to Belfast; check out
Irish Rail for details.
