Activities
- Go diving or snorkelling - the coral reefs around the
coast offer some of the best diving in the Caribbean. The Anse
Chastenet resort (a 5-minute drive away) has a 5-star PADI dive
centre
- Explore Soufriere - the old French capital of St Lucia,
it’s now a photogenic and sleepy fishing town with ancient
wooden houses and colourful fishing boats
- Check out the vibrant market held in Soufriere on
Saturday mornings and buy some fresh fish, fruit and spices to take
back to the villa for dinner
- Visit the botanical gardens, waterfall and mineral baths
on the Soufriere Estate, granted to the Devaux family (whose
descendent Mrs Joan Devaux still manages it today) by Louis
XVI
- Get an adrenaline rush by zip-lining through the
rainforest
- Climb the Pitons (you'll need a guide for Petit Piton,
the steeper of the 2 volcanic peals)
- Head to the beach - the natural beaches in the area have
black volcanic sand, but you can enjoy stretches of imported white
sand at the Jalousie Hilton (a 10-minute drive away) - non-guests
can pay a daily fee to use the loungers and parasols
- Sailing, sea kayaking and deep sea fishing can also be
arranged through the larger resorts
