Latitude 10 Resort

Press Reviews
The Tico Times, November 2009
"Hidden among a thick tropical veil, five private casitas
that are entirely open to the outside elements are connected by
winding stone paths. Although the rooms are wall-less and guests
are surrounded by woods, everything from the high-thread-count
sheets to the banana-iced French toast served for breakfast spells
luxury. The casitas are constructed entirely of dark almond wood
and decorated with locally crafted furniture; in lieu of windows,
shades drop down at night. The bathrooms, accented with intricate
tile work, are full rooms in themselves...The beach itself offers a
stunning backdrop, and guests often might find themselves alone on
white sands licked by the waves of the mighty Pacific."
Outside's Go Magazine, March 2008
"With no signage for the property anywhere to be seen, finding
Latitude 10 feels like stumbling on a secret treasure buried in the
jungle...The architect, William Hezmalhalch, spent days poring over
maps and standing atop ladders above the canopy in search of
clearings large enough for casitas. In one case, they built a roof
around a tree instead of cutting it down. And the kitchen and bar
were shrunk to save a stand of almond trees. The dense jungle helps
keep each of the five casitas private. The open-air buildings have
neither windowpanes (save for a little stained glass) nor
air-conditioning. And in some cases the walls of the private
outdoor bathrooms are nothing more than a thicket of jungle green -
guests can shower while watching monkeys and iguanas climb the
trees above."

“This place was exactly as described on the i-escape website. It was a great place to go in rainy reason as you can feel as if you are outside in the room without getting wet when it rains. The hotel was very accommodating of the fact that our travel was delayed because of a hurricane in the US. We had personal attention but were left alone to enjoy our honeymoon. Everything was perfect.
The only request is to have more planes to/from Tambor as we had to spend a whole day getting back to San Jose by car. Maybe the new ferry will help that.”
