Levendis Estate
Ithaca, Ionian Islands
Press Reviews
The Times, June 2010
"Tucked away in lush hills above a cliff-lined bay on the little
island of Ithaca, the Levendis Estate consists of four cute
cottages in a gated estate that share a lovely long infinity pool
lined by columns that would not look out of place in an Ancient
Greek temple. The cottages are surrounded by lawns, olive trees and
trellises covered in bright bougainvillea. The interiors are plain,
with a rustic look about them: simple wood panels and exposed stone
fittings. There are two bedrooms in each cottage: a master bedroom
and a twin-bedded room."

"Ithaca is as peaceful and serene as Homer painted it 3,000 years
ago. And I have a sneaky feeling that he may have pitched his
writing desk overlooking the bay at Levendis Estate. It's somewhere
you really shouldn't tell people about. Describing itself as 'an
eco-chic farm', it's a retreat more than a hotel and looks like
something you would find in a hip hotel or chic chateau guide - all
beautiful white linen and infinity swimming pool. The difference
here is that Levendis hasn't had its heart and soul designed out of
it. It's more earthy than glossy, deliberately rustic with its
owners' organic ethos etched into the tiered hillside."
Conde Nast Traveller (UK), March 2008
"At this eco-chic retreat everything is organic and home-grown,
from the fruit perserves to the homeopathic toiletries. Four
cottages nestle in glorious gardens with dramatic views to the sea.
An infinity pool with a marble colonnade is a grand setting for
moonlit barbecues. There's massage for grown-ups, hammocks slung
between cypress trees for children. Sleeps 2-30. Book the whole
estate."
