Madada Mogador
Essaouira, Morocco
Chic hotel built on the Essaouiran town ramparts, offering superb views across the beach and harbourfront
Did you know there are only 5,000 people in the world with a
passport from Monte Carlo? And did you know one of them has opened
a very chic hotel in Essaouira? Well now you do… welcome to
Madada Mogador, the realisation of a dream of Christine Dadda,
former Monte Carlo resident, now the glamorous proprietor of this
sleek maison d’hotes on the town ramparts.
The location is key as it means Madada Mogadar sits right on the
edge of Essaouira – the views across the seafront from the
sweeping roof terrace are sublime. The interiors are
cream-and-taupe, with a sophisticated city-hotel aura and
there’s a trendy restaurant on the ground floor. Its
attractions are striking: a group of French tourists immediately
vacated their rooms at the big-chain Sofitel resort further along
the coast once they spotted Madada Mogador from the waterfront
below and Christine allowed them a peek… luckily she had
availability then, but this kind of choice spot doesn’t stay
secret for long!
