Palmiet Valley Estate
Cape Winelands, South Africa
Elegant, tranquil and historic wine estate offering value for money and plenty of activities, just 40 minutes from Cape Town
Situated on a 100-acre working wine estate in a historic homestead,
Palmiet Valley lies at the foot of the Drakenstein Mountains, a few
kilometres from Paarl. Built in 1717, the thatched Cape Dutch manor
house has been discerningly restored and furnished with the finest
antiques. German owner, Fred Uhlendorff - mathematician, computer
pioneer, entrepreneur and seasoned traveller who spent 6 years
sailing around the world - is a fascinating character and a
charming host. His chef offers guests fine Cape-Malay influenced
cuisine in an elegant dining room and with a maximum of 22 guests
you are assured a personal service.
You can laze around the pool and gardens, enjoying the views of the
valley, but for the more active there's plenty to do nearby - from
hill walking, riding, cycling, clay pigeon shooting and fishing to
hot-air ballooning and of course wine tasting. If you fancy touring
the area in style, request one of their chauffeur driven classic
limousines. With 14 golf courses nearby it's an ideal choice for
golfers.
