Les Cascades de Bantry Bay
Cape Town, South Africa
Chic side-by-side guesthouses set high above Cape Town’s exclusive Bantry Bay, with awesome ocean views
Les Cascades is a partnership of 2 stylish villas, set high up on
Signal Hill above Bantry Bay, an exclusive suburb of Cape Town.
Belgian owners Luc and Els have created an exquisite hideaway,
making the most of the views with floor-to-ceiling windows in both
properties. The Main House has an ethnic feel with earthy-coloured
Asian and African furnishings. Next door, the brand-new (in 2008)
Cascade on 52 is contemporary cool, with gleaming white spaces,
mosaic tiles and pots of pretty orchids. The 12 guest
rooms are spread amongst the 2 properties, most with their own
terrace, ensuite bathroom and lounge area. They share the large
dining and living areas in both houses: those in the Main House are
filled with kudu-leather sofas, kuba textiles, zebra-skin stools
and bright local art; No 52's are big minimalist areas with sleek
white walls, and glass and silver furnishings.
Relax by the 3 rim-flow pools, enjoying the spectacular views of
Bantry Bay and the crashing waves on the rocks far below. But drag
yourself away, because Cape Town and a range of superb beaches are
all within 5 minutes' drive. Wonderful.

Highs
- The privacy, stylish interiors and superb pool decks
- The position: relatively wind-free under the protection of Lion’s Head, and breathtaking views to add to the allure
- Els takes a personal interest in her guests, and is a great chef so you'll eat well here
- The personal feel of a guesthouse combined with the extras services and mod cons, usually only associated with luxury hotels
- Value for money
Lows
- The views might prove too spellbinding… and you’ll miss out on the city
- There isn't really a garden (just decking) as the houses are built on the full extent of the plot
- As Cascades is situated high above the town, you'll need a car or use a taxi to get to shops, restaurants or beaches
Let’s not mince words… they [the rooms] are exquisite...
