Marina All Suites

One of Rio's hippest beach hotels with stylish design suites overlooking Ipanema-Leblon beaches

With all of Rio’s romance and vibrance, we were surprised to find just one boutique hotel on the beach front. Marina All Suites frankly doesn’t stand out much from the rest of the ocean front buildings of Rio – not that any block needs to when you’re in the most beautiful of city settings. But inside, this hotel has remarkable style with 39 spacious suites (some with kitchen-dining areas), 9 of which have been uniquely created by Brazil's top designers. The attention to detail is delightful: from corridor floors and walls depicting the local Rio curves through to the funky outfits worn by the bar staff.

Located by the beach in exclusive Leblon, just a stroll away from Ipanema, the hotel is perfectly situated in the more sophisticated and happening part of Rio (as opposed to the more touristy Copacabana). Here you'll be close to the trendier and more fashionable shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife. The hotel's own bar and restaurant buzzes with Brazilian celebrities from the world of fashion, film and music. We found the whole experience not without glamour and excitement.

• The location right on the beach, safer and less touristy than the Cop
• The Diamond Suite, favourite of top model Giselle Bundchen
• The fantastic views from the roof top plunge pool and gym
• Hanging out in the bar with Rio’s bright young things whilst sipping world class cocktails
• Revitalising breakfasts after big nights out

Lows

• First impressions of the exterior and foyer are unremarkable
• You’ll have to book to ensure a seat in the bar/restaurant
• Make sure you get a Design suite – the regular suites are rather uninspiring
• Not cheap, but worth it to be right on the beach.
• Gets booked up over New Year & Carnival in February
