Puerto Nativo

Chiloe, Chile

Location
Puerto Nativo is situated in a small, isolated bay near Queilén on the island of Chiloé in Chile's northern Patagonia. It's 300km from Puerto Montt (a 3-4 hour drive).

By Air:
Puerto Montt (300km away) is the nearest airport. It's served by daily internal flights from Santiago (arriving around 2pm) and has occasional links with cities in Argentina - click on the links below for a list of airlines.

From the Airport:
The Lodge recommends staying in Puerto Montt at Hotel Don Luis (www.hoteldonluis.com) for your first night. You can then take the bus and boat from Puerto Montt to Chiloé's main town, Castro. These run regularly throughout the day and take 3-4 hours (but it's best to get the early morning one at around 8-9am). Cruz del Sur and Queilén Buses both make this trip several times a day and offer similar services and prices. You will be met at the main square in Castro and taken to the Lodge (a 1.5-hour drive).

By Coach:
If you'd prefer to travel overland from Santiago to see more of the country, we recommend catching a coach. These are cheap and comfortable. Cruz del Sur makes the trip from Santiago to Castro daily (the journey time is about 18 hours).

By Car:
If you'd prefer to drive from Santiago to the Lodge, we recommend Holiday Autos, which offers competitive prices. You can collect your car at Santiago airport.

Detailed directions will be sent to you when you book through i-escape.com.

Save to favouritesPrintMailPuerto NativoTucked away on a hidden bay on what is already a fairly untrodden part of Chile, Puerto Nativo is definitely a destination with a difference. Carmen and Marco Ancaras chose this spot on the island of Chiloé in northern Patagonia especially to set up their dream home, and it isn’t difficult to see why. Overlooking one of the Estero Paildad - or ‘interior sea’ - bays, with a beach at the bottom of the garden and rolling green hills behind, they have built a beautiful, open-plan wooden house, very simply but tastefully furnished, that offers visitors a real home-from-home experience. You will arrive as guests, and almost certainly leave as friends; and probably not just with Marco and Carmen. Aside from excursions to surrounding villages, including historic churches and craft markets, and to local national parks, plus lots of outdoor activities including hiking and fly-fishing, there is a unique opportunity for those who wish to to get involved with this remote local community; from teaching the school children to sharing a glass of chicha (local cider) with the locals.
