It is four kilometres from the Ponte Vecchio and 4.5 kilometres from the Duomo, Florence's magnificent cathedral. The 24- hour front desk has multilingual staff at the hotel who can arrange cooking classes, sightseeing in Florence, and Chianti wine tastings. There is wireless Internet access throughout and complimentary secure parking is available. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning in the gazebo which features picture windows. The nine guestrooms have traditional decor, parquet floors, and antique-style Italian furnishings including desks. All are equipped with satellite television, climate control, ceiling fans, and complimentary wireless Internet access. Other standard amenities include safes, minibars, and coffee and tea facilities. Complimentary toiletries and hair dryers are provided in marble bathrooms."

Karen Brown's Italy
"The hills immediately surrounding Florence, dotted with stately villas and country homes dating back to the Renaissance, offered Florentine aristocrats cool respite in summer from the higher temperatures in the city below. The gracious Bulleri family chose this alternative to the city some 30 years ago, and after a successful career in the fashion industry, Claudio and Paola transformed their splendid wooded property into a top-notch inn for discerning guests. Nine very comfortable, immaculate rooms, personally decorated by Paola, have been created in a house across from the family’s villa. This includes an elegant main living and dining room with fireplace and large windows looking out over the garden. Classic-style bedrooms have parquet floors, matching fabrics for beds and drapes, and spacious sparkling-white bathrooms. Amenities include satellite TV, wireless Internet, mini-bar, safe, air conditioning, and a selection from the wine cellar. A full country breakfast is served out in the gazebo (in winter sliding glass doors keep the gazebo warm). The swimming pool has gorgeous hillside views over olive groves. The Bulleris share their personal lifestyle: charming son Lorenzo assists guests with local itineraries, guides and museum or concert ticketing, and Paola conducts cooking lessons, while Claudio accompanies guests to his nearby golf club."

  • “Overall, we had a very nice stay at Relais Marignolle and would go there again. It is very clean and all staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed Florence and walked to the city a few times along the narrow shaded streets from Marignolle Square. Only two minor negative comments. As usual abroad it is hard to get a decent cup of tea in bedroom. They needed deeper cups and some real milk on hand instead of small portions of some synthetic tasting stuff. To be fair we never asked about this. Also, perhaps the breakfasts, although very good, could have featured some cheese/ham.”

  • “Relais Marignolle is a family run business and you can tell from the personal welcome on arrival. The rooms are very comfortable, particularly good beds and quiet air conditioning that keeps the rooms very cool during the hot spell in August. We stayed with a toddler and they provided a cot at no extra charge.
The overall feeling at Marignolle is very relaxed you are left to do as you please and are generally not fussed over by staff. The pool isn’t big but nicely laid out and private. Marignolle doesn’t really do food, you have to pre order and the choice will depend on what is in the fridge at the time. For ease we did pre order a light meal on one day which was basic but absolutely fine. Breakfast isn’t included in the rate. Within a ten minute walk (albeit along a fairly hairy stretch of narrow road, a 2 minute drive is safer), there is a brilliant restaurant called Bibi. We ate there at lunch and dinner during our stay, the food and service really was very good.
Over all Marignolle was a very comfortable stay and a perfect escape from the heat and tourism of central Florence and literally only 10 minutes drive by car. We took a taxi into town for the evening which was circa 16 – 18 Euros. Florence isn’t a big city but the one way system makes it a tricky drive. Taxis worked well.
i-escape consistent as ever. Thank you.”

  • “Very helpful, friendly - just lovely! - staff at the hotel spoke fluent English and didn't hesitate going the exta mile to make our stay even more enjoyable! The location of the hotel couldn't be better - it was super beautiful! The fact that we had basically rain on all days (expect the arrival day) didn't matter at all: we enjoyed every minute of our holiday! The breakfast only might be something to consider improving: one would expect a greater variety and choices, being in a country with a great tradition in making mouth-watering delicacies. However, after our first breakfast we "smuggled" some cheese and ham into the restaurant and the we were fine!
The surrounding is perfect for country side trips - we would highly recommend renting a vehicle! The landscape is stunning; a healing balm for every tired soul, mind and body! And once refreshed, you are ready for all the cultural highlights that Florence offers!”

  • “We enjoyed the quiet surroundings of the Relais & Charme Marignolle. The owners and staff were pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and warmly hospitable without being intrusive. The location was perfect for us as we enjoy walking, but appreciated the proximity to the city with an easy taxi ride.
We walked to Porta Romana several times in 45 - 60 minutes through beautiful countryside, albeit along the narrow winding road. The Chianti wine and terra cotta tour led by Mr. Lorenzo Bulleri was enjoyable and informative.”

Save to favouritesPrintMailRelais MarignolleFlorence is jam-packed with things to see, but also with people seeing them, especially in summer. So you might prefer to escape to verdant hills just outside the city, and end your day with a dip in an olive-shaded pool. If so, there's no better place than Marignolle, the country retreat turned relais de charme, run by the impeccably mannered Bulleri family. A 10-minute taxi ride from the centre, it feels another world away. Blossoming almond and peach trees, bright geraniums and scented lavender surround you as you park at the end of the gated, gravelled drive. Walk through manicured gardens - eyes peeled for hoopoes - and the olive trees give way to a sun-facing terrace with an outdoor pool. Low rustic rambling buildings with cream walls and red-tiled roofs reveal a picture of elegant cosiness inside: vintage rugs on parquet floors, antique bureaus, gilt-lacquered lamps, family heirlooms. With long windows and deep sofas, the large 'relaxing room' washes you doubly clean of city fatigue.
