Press Reviews

Conde Nast Traveller (UK), March 2011
"A former monastery given the less-is-more design treatment, Son Brull holds pole position as the island's most fascinating hotel. Organic and locally produced ingredients shine at the restaurant run by chef Joan Marc Garcias."

Frommer's
"One of our favorite retreats in all of Majorca is this restored 18th-century farmhouse in the more tranquil northeastern sector of the island, lying midway between the villages of Artà in the north and Son Servera in the south. In ruins when discovered by a Majorcan architect and designer, it has been skillfully converted into a rural property of elegance and charm. Surprisingly for such a small place, it offers a spa tucked away behind the pool, with a sauna, Hamman, Jacuzzi, fitness center, and yoga room. The design reflects a minimalist slant, with sculptures, plants, and lamps judiciously placed about. The spacious junior suites have their own terraces. Bathrooms are tasteful and well equipped with tub and separate shower, as well as such extras as bathrobes and cosmetic mirrors. Reserved just for guests and their friends, the on-site restaurant specializes in classic island dishes with a wide range of Spanish wines."

Save to favouritesPrintMailSon Brull Hotel and SpaIf you need a fix of contemporary design, top notch service but in a handy rural setting, Son Brull has it sussed. Only a couple of miles from the picturesque town of Pollenca in the north, it's set on a forested hillside with great views across the plain. Don't think small boutique: with its substantial size and natural setting, it's got imposing presence when you first arrive. Its 23 slickly designed, teched up [r:es029:rooms] are so geared for comfort they even come with pillow menus. This was once a monastery. Its olive mill still remains as does the stone courtyard. But things have moved on for worshippers today. An infinity pool now overlooks the valley. Not content with ordinary sun loungers, special double day-beds with wafting muslin drapes line the decking. Its spa, chill-out bar and fine restaurant now cater for a different kind of monk: mostly romantics sometimes with toddler but not afraid to venture out on the town. Divine.
