Talisman Hotel
Cairo, Egypt
Press Reviews
The Guardian, June 2011
"Cairo's loveliest small hotels include the Talisman, a downtown
place in an apartment block, which has 24 rooms."
The Guardian, September 2010
"Cairo's Talisman Hotel, which opened a year ago near the Egyptian
Museum, claims to be the city's only boutique hotel. Its 24
colourful rooms with chandeliers, parquet floor and beautiful
quilts take up the fifth floor of an apartment block in downtown
Cario and, along with decadent salons and a dining room, are
accessed by and old wrought iron lift."

"If you want to get away from the cookie-cutter chains and see the
real Cairo, but you don't feel ready to kip with the backpacker
crowd, head to this downtown boutique hotel in a renovated
19th-century flat. Every room is different, and the hallways are an
antiques collector's dream."
Lonely Planet
"The one and only hotel of its kind in Cairo, this charming
boutique hotel has a wonderful downtown location and makes a
fabulous address to retire to after negotiating the Cairo chaos.
After taking countless dodgy lifts to even dodgier accommodation in
Cairo, it's refreshing to recommend a hotel that comes with no
disclaimers. The price includes refreshments, tea/coffee and snacks
and they'll collect you from the airport, organise tours, and take
care of restaurant bookings. A truly unique Cairo address."

“The Talisman is a beautiful hotel and the rooms did not disappoint. There was a slight smell to the bathroom in our room (we had two rooms and one was fine), but it wasn't unusual for Egypt. The entrance to the hotel can be a bit forbidding (especially arriving at night), and the elevator was not always working, but the 5th floor, where the hotel was located was truly lovely. Staff was not too engaging and offered a questionable exchange rate upon checkout (but this was corrected at our request), but we are very happy to have stayed at the Talisman as opposed to any boring business hotel.”
Sandra, United States (21.11.11)“Our room was reasonably quiet, the entrance was predictably grotty as you told us, free internet access in a nice communal library room was handy, room was nice - beds a little hard for my taste. Their airport transfer was a rip off though at 20 euros each way - we organised it ourself on a second visit and it was not only easy enough to find, it was only 100 Egyptian pounds - about half the price.
Overall though, a good option.”
