"Conveniently located one road back from King's Beach, a stone's throw from McArthur Pools, this is the first guesthouse in P.E. to embrace the modern boutique-hotel aesthetic, with customized fittings and furniture throughout, much of it designed by Haldane Martin, local Elle Decor Designer of the Year. Luxury rooms are huge enough to be termed suites, and furnished with all the modcons needed for a comfortable stay. Book one of the upstairs rooms for views, particularly room no. 3, which has sea vistas from its balcony. Breakfast is served in the dining room, on the deck, or in your room, and a complimentary shuttle service is on hand to take you to the Boardwalk complex, with its many restaurant choices (though it's worth noting that Caroline, the manageress, while well-meaning, is unable to make informed restaurant recommendations; something you'd expect at this price)."

• “Seems a bit worn and not the nicest location. Says there is wifi throughout the hotel - couldn't get it in our room - had to sit outside on the step. Bathroom didn't feel that clean / was a bit out dated. Considering the price, we stayed at lot nicer places in SA for cheaper.”

• “We only had 1 night here, which is just as well as Port Elizabeth itself isn't worth stopping in for much longer. However, if you do find yourself there, then The Windermere has the zen wow factor. Our room was enormous and very very stylish, with a huge bed and fabulous shower. The breakfast was delicious, and big enough to last a day. If I were nitpicking, tea/coffee facilities in the room might have been nice. The outdoor area was lovely - with a plunge pool, lounge area and dining table under a blooming pagoda. The hotel recommended a local restaurant for dinner, Ginger, a 5 minute drive away; fine dining but phenomenal value with an outdoor terrace and view of the sea. Lastly, Joyce the manager, was truly helpful and very friendly. A great choice, well done i-escape, good find!”
