THE LYALL HOTEL AND SPA - REVIEW

The Lyall is a hotel that lets you imagine just for a moment that you are part of the in-crowd. Fashionistas, designers and creative business types mix here with well-heeled gal pals ready for a shopping and spa weekend. The district of South Yarra is Melbourne’s answer to Beverly Hills: here ladies do lunch, teenagers shop with their parent's Amex and even the dogs are chic!

Just minutes from the action of Chapel Street, this cool white hotel sits on a peaceful, tree-lined avenue. Inside you are greeted by impeccably trained staff in a sleek and shiny lobby. The 40 suites are all self-contained apartments with sexy bathrooms, elegant bedrooms, smart sitting areas and a well appointed kitchen to boot. There is a spa, a gym, a champagne bar (of course!) and even a pillow menu, plus a business centre for those who really are here to work. The Lyall has read the manual on what guests want from a boutique hotel and they have ticked every box.

The service may be flawless but it's a tad less personal than some hotels
The colour scheme, while very zen, is less characterful than our other Melbourne hotels
