- Dining: The villa has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, as well as a BBQ in the garden and several indoor and outdoor dining areas. Breakfast is provided daily and a private chef can be arranged on request to cook lunch and dinner. Groceries can be provided by prior arrangement
- Communal areas: The villa's open-plan living area has sofas, a desk, an open fire, a large flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a CD player. Outside are lush gardens filled with vines, figs and flowers, with chairs and a hammock for relaxing and breathing in the Umbrian air

- Swimming Pool: The villa has its own outdoor pool, surrounded by a terrace with tables and chairs
- Spa Treatments: Massages and manicures/pedicures can be arranged on request
- Recreational: There's a table tennis table on the lower ground floor and bikes are available. Yoga sessions can be organised on request, and there's a tranquil Bocce court shaded by trees in the garden

When to go?
As with the rest of Italy, May and June are gorgeous, with warm sunny days and lots of flowers, though early May can be chilly in the evening in these hills. July and August are hot and busier in the towns, although that wouldn't bother you at Villa Metato. October is another good month for those who can, and the villa's heating and open fireplace mean winter stays are also an option.
Author's tips
If you're here for Christmas, head to Città di Castello on Christmas Eve where a group of canoeists, each dressed as Father Christmas, paddle down the river, under a bridge decoarted with a crib, and then get out and distribute small presents to any children gathered there.
