Travel Info for Lanzarote

Best time to go to Lanzarote and how to get there

Lanzarote: When to Go

Lying so close to Africa, Lanzarote is blessed with year-round sunshine and warm temperatures, so it's an ideal destination for winter sun. There are usually fairly strong sea breezes, which strengthen slightly in the summer months, but this keeps it from getting uncomfortably hot.

Getting There

To search flights across all airlines, we recommend using Skyscanner

LANZAROTE: BY AIR

From the UK: carriers include easyJet, Ryanair, Jet2, British Airways and TUI. The flight time from the UK is around 4 hours.

Within Europe: try Aer Lingus, Air Berlin, Condor, Transavia, Austrian Airlines, Ryanair, Iberia and Air Europa

From other Canary Islands: Binter Canarias operates flights between the Canary Islands and has its own terminal at Arrecife Airport. There are several flights daily between Lanzarote and Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

By boat: Lanzarote is linked by ferry to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. The ferry port is located at Playa Blanca, with regular services for the 40-minute crossing to Fuerteventura.

Getting Around

If you want to make the most of the island, you’ll need to hire a car, though you’re unlikely to clock up that much mileage. The island is about 60km north to south and 25km east to west; it doesn’t take long to get around. The road network isn’t particularly extensive and it’s fairly hard to get lost. See our car rental recommendations.

The alternatives include taxis, which are expensive for longer trips (more than the daily cost of hiring a car), and a bus service, which connects most towns and villages to the airport.
