Best time to go to Ibiza and how to get there

Ibiza: When to Go

The climate in Ibiza and Formentera is typically Mediterranean: hot and dry in summer, cool and often wet from October to January. Much of the island shuts down in winter (October – April), although some hotels remain open all year round and this is actually a really nice time to visit. Think cosy duvets, log fires, hot chocolate in beach restaurants and windswept walks. Summers are reliably hot, with highs of 35 degrees C, and the island is full to the brim from May – September.

Getting There

To search flights across all airlines, we recommend using Skyscanner

IBIZA: BY AIR

From the UK: carriers include easyJet, British Airways, Iberia, Jet2 and Ryanair.

Within Europe: try Iberia, Ryanair.

There are also charter flight services, bookable through the Charter Flight Centre and Travel Republic. However, from October to April most of these routes stop operating and your best bet is to fly via Spain with Iberia.

Getting Around

Although there are public buses, we'd recommend hiring a car when you’re in Ibiza as it’s by far the easiest way to get about. The roads are relatively quiet, and you soon get to know the main routes around the island. It also means you can reach the secluded beaches and more rural areas, all of which are beautiful. See our car rental recommendations.

There are also plenty of taxis on the island, but bear in mind that these get booked up at least a day in advance in high season.
