A 3-day taster of northern Thailand and the Burmese border. Highlights include:
- Doi Tung Palace and the Thai Burma border
- Meeting Hmong people and hearing their music
- A longtail boat ride, down the Mekong
Day 1 (D): Arrive late afternoon and watch presentation about the Hmong and Lahu tribes, the Golden triangle area and the giant cat fish. Learn about activities that affect the Mekong River and people whose lives depend on the river. Afterwards, watch traditional Hmong performances.
Day 2 (B, L, D): Visit Thai-Burma border at Mae Sai District (you can opt to cross the border and visit Takhilek Market, extra cost). Drive along border via Baan Pha Mee to visit Wat Prathat Doi Tung, Doi Chang Mub arboretum garden and Doi Tung Palace. Drive to the Golden Triangle to visit the Hall of Opium then take long-tail boat down Mekong River to the fishing village of Baan Had Bai.
Day 3 (B): Breakfast then departure.
