360 Leti
nr Almora, Uttarakhand, India
An exclusive, remote retreat, with panoramic Himalayan views that will make your soul soar
The jagged white peaks of the Heeramani glacier bear down on you
from the north, while to the east, Nepalese snowcaps twinkle in the
glittery distance. This kind of scenery is normally reserved for
hardened trekkers - but you’ll find 360° Leti a lot more
indulgent than Everest base camp. Four futuristic glass and stone
cabins, and a larger communal dining and lounge area,
perch on a stunningly remote mountaintop that commands knockout
views of the northwestern Himalaya. And while you soak up this
incredible vista from a height of 7,314 feet (2,230m), you'll be
living in the lap of solar-powered eco-luxury.
The incredible location redefines 'remote' and getting here
isn’t easy. But it's worth it. An overnight train journey
from Delhi and a lengthy car ride bring you to the tiny mountain
village of Leti. From here, it’s a 1-hour walk along a narrow
track (porters carry your bags) before you finally arrive at this
sumptuous hideaway, designed by Mumbaiker Bijoy Jain. Be warmly
welcomed by your hosts before feasting on gourmet cooking and fine
wines, then retire to your cabin's comfort of giant beds adorned
with duvets and pashmina blankets. During the day, visit mountain
temples, explore secluded mountain paths and picnic by waterfalls;
spend evenings by your private firepit. Whether you are
adventuring, in search of the ultimate escape, or on honeymoon,
this is the perfect place to unwind and breathe in the crystalline
air - and to gaze upon those once-in-a-lifetime views.

Highs
- The magical views, the incredible views, the Himalayan views - without the pain of trekking
- With only 4 cabins, there’s a feeling of glorious isolation and communing with nature
- Stunning architectural design - deploying only local stone, canvas, timber and glass - in harmony with the landscape
- Service is 5 star; the staff are prompt and genuine in responding to any request, every detail has been thought through, and the guides are extremely professional
- Perfect for romance and relaxing, private dining available in your cabin
Lows
- Not for the faint-hearted - access to the camp involves a 2-day journey from Delhi (though charter flights and helicopters available), and an hour's walk - but the whole point is that this is remote paradise
- Intrepid trekkers may feel restricted - all treks need to be accompanied by a guide for clients' safety of the clients as phone connectivity is poor - but you can combine a stay here with one of the Kumaon Village Walks if you want to do longer trekking
- There’s no internet or mobile phone reception, so don't expect contact with the outside world - a considerable blessing for most!
- Although remote, your proximity to other guests means you're never really 'alone'
- As you'd expect, this experience doesn't come cheap; 3 night minimum stay requirement (tho having gone to the trouble of getting here, 3 nights will fly by)
