1. Bookings Consultant

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for travel to help advise customers and administer hotel bookings.

This is a full-time role in our Bristol (UK) office. Key responsibilities are:

  • monitoring and overseeing on-line bookings
  • helping clients with travel plans
  • teaching new properties how to use our booking system
  • answering help enquiries – by email or phone
  • updating hotel details - with occasional visits to hotels in UK/abroad

Key requirements are:

  • excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • educated to degree level
  • good telephone manner
  • meticulous attention to detail
  • very computer and web literate
  • good typing skills
  • head for figures
  • native English speaker (or native-level)
  • additional languages (Italian, French or Spanish) are a bonus
  • ability and discipline to work from home at times
  • a friendly, easy-going manner to fit in with our small Bristol-based bookings team

Salary: £18-20K plus bonus

2. Technical Lead

i-escape is an award-winning hotel marketing and reservation website, with its own content management system, marketing campaigns, in-house accounts module, and proprietary booking system to power availability, reservations and payments, including multiple integrations with 3rd parties.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced full stack developer with team lead and management experience, to head up their in-house Bristol tech team and to take ownership of all aspects of their technical development.

You will have the following skills and experience:
  • Development team leadership experience
  • Min 5 years experience in LAMP stack development
  • Experience of Laravel
  • Experience of AngularJS or VueJs
  • Strong HTML5 and SASS skills
  • Proven Object Oriented PHP knowledge
  • Good MySQL and database design knowledge
  • Experience of managing websites in a Linux hosted environment

You will also have:
  • Knowledge of best practises such as unit testing, design patterns and re-factoring
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • The ability to work closely with company directors to help determine tech strategy and innovations, and to assess projects' viability and likely dev time

Knowledge of hotel or other reservation systems will be a bonus.

Self-employed travel writers/journalists wishing to join our team of occasional reviewers should email editorial [at], outlining your travel plans, including destinations, dates, who you're travelling with, and any other commissions already arranged. Please include a couple of relevant samples of writing and photography - ideally, links to published pieces.

Our staff writers cover UK & most of Europe, so you have a better chance if you are travelling to (or resident in) one of our long-haul destinations, such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Tanzania, Vietnam; and better still if you can suggest some beautiful boutique hotels or rentals (ideally newly opened) which you think ought to be included in our portfolio.
