Environmental Policy
Most food is from the garden or local market, and all is fresh and organic. The owners plan to become self-sufficient in organically grown vegetables and salad stuffs. Biodegradable waste is used for either feeding neighbours’ pigs or their own compost. Metal and glass items are stored for recycling. they do not use any water bottles but rather filter all their own water, and use solar tanks for hot water heating. All 'grey' water (from showers and sinks) is collected in underground tanks and used to water the gardens, with the aim to waste as little precious water as possible
Social Responsibility
Casa Susegad uses local staff who live on site and form part of the family. Several rescue dogs are also part of the family and may follow you around the property; the owners support the Goa Animal Welfare Trust.
When to go?
December through March provides the best weather; by the end of March summer has set in and temperatures can get rather stifling. Diwali in October/November or Holi in March provide great celebrations and are incredible festivals to experience; you may also want to check out Goa Carnival around Easter or the Food & Cultural Festival in February.
