CASA PALOPO - REVIEW
We arrived at Casa Palopó after dusk so our first breathtaking sight of the sacred volcano-ringed lake was from our private terrace at dawn the next morning. All ten charming rooms and suites, as well as the two-bedroomed luxury villa, have this incomparable vision. The hotel is carefully designed over levels: the lush dining terrace runs lakeside, landscaped exotic gardens climb ever upwards, the cobalt blue swimming pool is perched with a view, there's a private lake beach with gardens and jetty. Guatemalan heritage is present in the jewel-coloured walls, vibrant artworks, painted furniture, dazzling candelabras. Traditional musical instruments decorate one wall, vintage mirrors and silver plate adorn antiques.
Only three hours from Antigua, this beautiful hotel provides sumptuous accommodation and sheer indulgent relaxation - perfect for honeymooners, couples and groups of friends. Excursions around the lake and to colourful indigenous markets are easily arranged by the courteous and helpful staff. |
