CasaSandra

Isla Holbox, The Yucatan

Location
CasaSandra is set on Playa Norte on Isla Holbox, a sandspit island located off the northeastern tip of Quintana Roo on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula.

By Air:
Cancún International (160km away) is the closest airport. Alternatively you can fly to Mérida (259km away). Click on the links below for a list of airlines.

From the Airport:
The hotel can arrange a transfer in a minibus from the airport to the small coastal village of Chiquila. There are also direct buses thrice daily from Cancún and daily from Mérida. You then take the scheduled 9 Hermanos ferry on the 25-minute voyage to Isla Holbox (the ferry runs 9 times each way every day). Alternatively, CasaSandra can arrange a private boat - see Rates for prices. You'll be met at the pier and escorted to the resort in a golf cart. The whole journey takes about 3 hours from Cancún.

By Car:
There are no cars on the island, but if you're on a tour of the wider region you can self-drive to Chiquila and leave your car there - local families run small parking lots (see Rates for an idea of price). Hire cars are available at both Cancún and Mérida airports. We recommend Holiday Autos, which offers competitive prices and discounts for internet bookings.

Getting Around Holbox:
Walking is the preferred mode of transport, but you can also rent golf carts if you want to explore as much of the island as possible.

Detailed directions will be sent to you when you book through i-escape.com.

Save to favouritesPrintMailCasaSandraWhen Cuban music producer, poet and artist Sandra Pérez first came to the Yucatán, she felt an instant affinity with its people, colours, sounds and scents. Friends advised her to visit unspoiled Isla Holbox, the last vestige of uncommercial living on the Maya Riviera; she fell in love with its raw beauty. When she bought a plum spot of land on the Playa Norte, then covered only with fine white sand and coconut palms, the local fishermen threw a 3-day party to celebrate. CasaSandra is her passion project and it shows. Sandra's influence is evident in the carefully sourced Cuban antiques, the bespoke colonial-style furniture from Guadalajara, and the 19 romantic [r:MX011:rooms and suites], all with ocean views. Little details - lights made from conch shells, Mexican fabrics given a contemporary twist - contribute to the stylish and welcoming ambiance. Add the best [i!http://www.i-escape.com/hotel.php?section=eating&hotel_key=MX011!restaurant] on the island, vast double loungers, palapa daybeds and a pool, and you have the perfect formula for lusciously lazy days.
