Gran Hotel Son Net

Puigpunyent, Mallorca

One of Mallorca's best hotels: a stylishly-restored 17th century mansion where original Chagalls and Hockneys blend with authentic local interiors

Frequently referred to as one of Mallorca's best hotels, Gran Hotel Son Net sits majestically on a hill in the Sierra Tramuntana overlooking the village of Puigpunyent. Built in 1672 and meticulously restored under the supervision of Californian owner David Stein in 1998, this rose coloured Finca is as elegant and refined on the inside as it is magnificent to view from the outside. Son Net is classic luxury with a hint of glamour. Its fine interiors are carefully blended from the traditional and contemporary. Art from Chagall to Warhol is scattered throughout. Interesting giant steel knife and fork installations greet you in the "Oleum”, Son Net's restaurant, set in a centuries-old olive mill. High ceilings, towering doorways, large fireplaces and truly palatial bedrooms give the hotel a feeling of grandeur yet with only 31 rooms, it still feels personal.

The pool is stunning; golf courses, beaches and Palma's boutiques, cafes and galleries are a 20-minute drive away; guided hiking and sightseeing excursions around the island can also be arranged.
