THE SUN HOUSE - REVIEW
When a journalist claimed that The Sun House's main bedroom was "one of the most beautiful rooms in the world", she wasn't far wrong. This small British-owned hotel jokes that it worries about the expectations of any guest who reads this accolade - but they have nothing to fear. The Sun House represents modern-day luxury with an old-style feel. Set in the hills above historic Galle town, with a pool and airy living areas, you'll find total peace and relaxation.
Built in the 1860s by a Scottish spice merchant, the house has been open to guests for five years and was voted by Conde Nast as one of the Top 21 Hotels for the 21st Century. Since then they have also opened the Dutch House next door with its stunning infinity pool. With their proximity to beaches and Galle (one of Sri Lanka's most atmospheric towns), these white-porticoed colonial gems are a perfect base for exploring the south coast. A haven for romantic couples and solace seekers wanting something different. |
