Getting there
BY AIR
There are no direct flights from the UK or mainland Europe, but
there are plenty of options via various destinations in the Far or
Middle East, with the option to break your journey for a day or so
en-route.
From the UK:
Singapore Airlines flies
from London Heathrow or Manchester via Singapore
Cathay Pacific flies from
London Heathrow via Hong Kong
Malaysia Airlines flies
from London Heathrow via Kuala Lumpur
Etihad Airways flies from
London Heathrow or Manchester via Abu Dhabi
British Airways has an agreement with
Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong (travelling on British Airways to Hong
Kong, and with Cathay Pacific onwards to Jakarta).
From the rest of Europe:
From North America:
Cathay Pacific has a service via Hong Kong from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver as well as some other cities.
From Australia and New Zealand:
Qantas has direct flights between Jakarta and Sydney, and Jetstar a service to and from Perth. Garuda Indonesia, the Indonesian national airline, has flights between Jakarta and Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.
There are no direct flights from New Zealand, so a short hop across to Sydney would be necessary and then pick up an onward flight from there.
