La Herradura and La Bumba Cottage
Gaucin, Andalucia, Spain
A stunning villa (sleeps 4) and a cosy cottage (sleeps 2), both with stupendous views
This beautiful villa and charming cottage exemplify the best of
Andalucian living. Part of the magnificent El Nobo
cortijo and estate, and striding distance from the mountain village
of Gaucin, is the large and lovely La Herradura - owner
Sally is justifiably proud of this wonderful house. With its own
infinity pool, big terraces and a Jacuzzi outside, and the
Spanish-Moroccan décor and furnished flair inside, this is
one of the most delightful villas we’ve seen... truly an
idyllic hideway for up to 4 people.
La Bumba is a gem - a cottage for 2 with its own terrace,
Jacuzzi (or "cuddle puddle"), a spacious kitchen-sitting area with
a fireplace and a galleried bedroom. Guests also have access to El
Nobo's cliff-hanger pool and bigger Jacuzzi with views across the
mountains, the lovely landscaped gardens and 11 acres of almond and
citrus orchards. Oh, and the tennis court - if you're in Roger
Federer mode.

- The generous welcome hamper upon arrival (and free firewood)
- Dinners by arrangement at the Main House

Lows
- A car is crucial for access to both La Herradura and La Bumba Cottage
- La Bumba cottage shares the swimming pool with guests staying at El Nobo (La Herradura has its own pool)
- Steep stone terracing, rocks and hillside pools make both houses unsuitable for small children
- The pot-holed trek into Gaucin for supplies can be ubër-bumpy
- The properties are weekly rentals (Saturday pm - Saturday am) only
perched on the edge of the mountain with views stretching all the way to Gibraltar...
