Rooms

Each of the six rooms and two apartments are individually designed and inspired by the owners' travels around the world. Character shines through in bright colours, bold wallpapers and designer furnishings. 

In the main hotel, there are two Classical rooms and two Terrace rooms. The former are bright and airy thanks to high ceilings and tall windows; one (Barceloneta) overlooks the street. The Terrace rooms open onto the main patio, offering peace overnight but possibly less privacy during the day. Don't be put off by the glass-walled ensuites – there's a curtain if you're shy. 

The Baiamonti rooms are in the building opposite. Of the two, we like the look of Baia Rose, with its calming terracotta colour scheme, geometric tiled floors and double sofabed. That said, it's hard not to feel uplifted by the cheery canary-coloured walls in Baia Yellow, plus it has a little balcony. Baia Rose faces the street, so you may hear some traffic noise. 

The apartments offer more independence, thanks to kitchenettes and extra space. Families or friends will like the LaFavia Suite on the top floor of the main hotel; it has a double bedroom, a separate bathroom and a living space with a sofabed that can sleep two (can be double or twins). The pitched ceiling and exposed beam give it a loft feel, and the private terrace looks over Milan's sunbaked rooftops. For couples who want more privacy and independence, Cola Montano 8 is a studio-style apartment located a 5-minute walk from LaFavia.

Eating

By all accounts, breakfast is a real highlight. It's taken on the terrace, at shaded tables surrounded by plants, or in the cosy dining room in inclement weather. Expect a continental spread of fresh cakes, brioche, cured meat and cheese, yoghurt, granola, jams and marmalade, and eggs cooked to order. Wash it all down with good Italian coffee, tea and fresh orange juice. When in season, the oranges are picked from LaFavia's own citrus grove!

Guests staying in the LaFavia Suite and Cola Montana 8 have their own simple kitchenettes, equipped with all the essentials for prepping snacks and light meals. Note that those staying in Cola Montana 8 don't have breakfast included. 

There’s no restaurant on site, but Milan's finest are on the doorstep. Fabio and team know all the best neighbourhood cafés, aperitivo spots and restaurants, from casual trattorias to elegant dining rooms.

• Browse the independent boutiques, design stores, and art galleries of the trendy Brera District (20-25min walk), stopping in at cafes and relaxed trattorias along the way
• Those in the know head to the neighbourhoods of Isola and Corso Como (10-15min walk) for wine bars, cool restaurants and buzzy aperitivo spots popular with locals
• Walk (30mins) or take the tram to marvel at the Duomo; climb up to the roof for intricate statues and incredible views 
• Shop, shop, shop: from the luxury stores in Quadrilatero della Moda to the recognisable high-street brands along Corso Buenos Aires, and of course the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II 
• Take a break from the bustle in Parco Sempione, the beautiful central park lorded over by the imposing Sforzesco Castle 
• LaFavia has a couple of bikes to borrow, so cycle around quiet, leafy neighbourhoods and find your own hidden gems

Kids

Children are welcome at LaFavia, however, there are no facilities specifically for families on the premises, and only a couple of rooms can take additional guests.

Family friendly accommodation:

For families of three and four, both LaFavia Suite and Baia Rose have a double sofa bed. The Terrace rooms (Oaxaca and La Palmera) can interconnect. Baby cots are available on request for all rooms.

Location

LaFavia Milan is in the Porta Garibaldi area, on the north side of the historic centre of Milan. It's a 20-30 minute walk to Piazza Duomo, and 10 minutes’ walk to both the Isola district and the Parco Sempione. Cola Montano 8 is in a separate building, a 15-minute walk north of the main hotel. 

By Air:
Linate (10km away) is closest (for short-haul and domestic flights), but Malpensa (50km outside the city) is Milan's largest and main airport (with more long-haul flights). There's also the option of Bergamo (BGY) to the North-East for low-cost carriers and charter flights. 

From the Airport
Transfers can be arranged from all airports, or get a taxi. For public transport from Malpensa take the Express Train or Shuttle Bus to Garibaldi station. From Linate take 2 buses – No. 73 to Piazza San Babila and then No. 94.

By Train:
The nearest stations are Garibaldi and Moscova (5 minutes walk); the main railway station Stazione Centrale (high-speed links) is 2 underground stops away (on the Green line). 

By Car:
We wouldn't recommend driving. If you do hire a car, leave your vehicle in one of the huge commuter car parks near metro stops off the motorway ringroad, or park nearby in a public parking garage. 

Getting Around
For the tube, head to MM2 Moscova/Garibaldi underground stations. Or use tram lines 2, 4, 10, 14, 33, and the 94 bus. It's a two-minute walk to the closest BikeMi bicycle parking facility.
