LANNA MANTRA - REVIEW
Lanna Mantra, which opened at the end of 2005, is a 15-minute drive or 45-minute boat trip from the centre of Chiang Mai and makes a lovely respite from the rather crowded and bustling city. With lawned gardens, shady sit-outs, a huge pond and an infinity pool overlooking the river, it's the perfect place to unwind after a busy day in the temples, shops and night bazaar.
The 28 rooms spread across 4 two-storey buildings are simple, stylish and very comfortable. They're brightened up by local artwork, including endearing him-and-her portraits on bedrooms walls, and playful Lanna statuettes of more dubious taste scattered around the pond. You can enjoy breakfast and light meals by the water's edge, then head into town - or to the nearby fruit and flower gardens - by shuttle boat. With 6 pairs of interconnecting corner rooms, this makes an ideal base for families, and anyone else who wants more peace and quiet than any city-centre hotel can offer. |
