Press Reviews
The Observer, September 2009
"Immediately you are made to feel at home, in among the big
sandstone Jaisalmer fresco and the chairs crafted from Rajasthani
ox carts. Every peaceful bedroom is special in its own way –
a gold-plated elephant head-dress or a Bollywood poster, a small
balcony, a swish wet room. There's a spa and a rooftop restaurant
with views east over suburbs and trees. A five-course menu flows
from the kitchen, with an exceptional chef and a brand new
tandoor."

"Here the weary traveller discovers everything good about the bed
and breakfast model, enhanced with 24-hour room service and a cosy
spa. It’s smaller, only 17 rooms, so few in number they
don’t even bother with numbers, using names drawn from Indian
culture and geography. You're only obliged to remember which of the
four levels your room is, and punch the appropriate elevator
button. This also means the staff to guest ratio of 1 to 1·5
insures attentive service and security. It’s comfortable,
modern, clean and spacious, and excellent value."

“Shanti will always be my preferred choice of hotel in Delhi. The service is very personal, the rooms are very comfortable, all the staff are friendly and want to do their best to make your stay enjoyable. The restaurant is also excellent. Shanti is away from the city centre but the metro is 5 minutes away and clean and air conditioned. We will definitely visit again and definitely recommend Shanti.”
Marion, United Kingdom (06.05.12)“Our second visit to Shanti. A great place to stay if want to escape the city centre and you like small and friendly hotels. The restaurant serves excellent quality food.”
Marion, United Kingdom (22.04.12)“This was the last hotel on our travels through India and a great place to escape to after a long day visiting Delhi. The best part of the hotel was the delightful rooftop restaurant. The custom made oven made the most delicious nan bread we tried on the trip. The service was exceptional and the staff tried really hard to make us feel special.”
Laurence, Spain (08.04.12)“This little hotel is a real gem! If only you could find places like this wherever you go; it's an oasis amid the bustle and chaos of Delhi. Staff are immensely charming and helpful and the owner is an absolute star -nothing is too much trouble. For us it's the only place to stay in Delhi.”
Chris, United Kingdom (21.01.12)“I stayed at Shanti Home for three nights in December 2011. All the online reviews about how friendly and helpful the staff is are absolutely true. The team there made my stay comfortable and very pleasant, and they can't do enough for their guests. Although Shanti Home is not centrally located, the metro is efficient, and the walk from the station is an experience not to be missed, particularly after sunset (while overwhelming, it's very safe - as a woman on my own, I had no trouble). I'd highly recommend booking a cooking class - Chef Adil's dishes were amongst the most delicious I tasted in India. The only thing I'd do differently when I return (and I'd love to go back) would be to ask for a quieter room - I was in Kashmir and there was a lot of noise from the restaurant above, and from the street (although street noise is hard to avoid in Delhi!). Thanks to all the Shanti Home team for a lovely stay.”
Jo, South Africa (30.12.11)“A great place to relax away from the busy streets of Delhi. Our room was comfortable, and all the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient. It was a pleasure to eat in the rooftop restaurant where the food is excellent.”
Judy, United Kingdom (18.12.11)“The service in particular was excellent, very friendly and warm, nothing was too much trouble.”
Elizabeth, United Kingdom (06.03.11)“We arrived sick as dogs after a long long drive. By the time we had checked, they had sent up bowls of soothing soup to our room. Highlights included kindest and most knowledeable staff, very nice room, free fast wifi throughout, and most of all, countless little acts of generosity and usefulness. A great base for exploring Delhi, for starting and for ending a trip to India”
