"For a cosy holiday home with lots of character, book into one of the Terrace Houses, three 19th-century cottages in the hill town of Sirince, six miles from Ephesus. The little buildings have been carefully renovated with reclaimed marble basins, wooden sleigh beds and lovely lighting, including Chinese lanterns and wrought-iron chandeliers."

"Rent your own 19th century cottage in this pretty hill town. Each has been restored with lashings of love and personality - reclaimed marble basins, claw-footed tubs, vast sleigh beds and snuggly sleeping loft mixed with cool Chinese lanterns and wrought iron chandeliers, strings of drying red peppers in the kitchens and clutches of fresh pink oleander by the bedside. These are cosy homes with character and history and you're just 10km from Ephesus."

• “This was a real treat. The houses are quiet and very thoughtfully done - you can see their renovation was a total labour of love for Omar and his wife. Omar was incredibly welcoming, hospitable and helpful. He helped us with recommendations re Ephesus, beaches to visit, our ongoing trip to Cannakale, Troy, Gallipoli and Istanbul. He had books, maps, suggestions, recommendations - incredibly helpful. On our first night, not only did he recommend a super restaurant in the village, he walked there with us and helped us to order our food. This meant we ate authentic Turkish food, rather than more touristy stuff, but he had also understood the requirements of our slightly fussy 12 year old! Absolutely brilliant. We had a lovely time at the Terrace Houses and would thoroughly recommend them.”

• “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Terrace Houses - we stayed in the Fig House - and would highly recommend it. Omer was incredibly helpful as was his daughter Sybil. Aysal was a great cook - make sure you opt for breakfasts daily and the evening meal we had was fantastic. The house was clean and tidy with everything that we needed - apart from one thing - we could recommend that they invest in a cool box as it would be great to take cold drinks and food to the beach. Our stay here has definitely has put Turkey on my list of locations.”
