Best time to go and how to get there

Malta: When to Go

April, May, September and October are good times to come in terms of balmy weather and lower prices, but for a party atmosphere, head here in July and August. Easter and Christmas, though more expensive, are good times to come to enjoy the Roman Catholic spectacle.

Getting There

Note: flight, boat, train and bus timetables change constantly, and airlines come and go, so please do not rely solely on this information for your travel planning. Check with relevant companies, or a flight search engine like Skyscanner, first.

Malta's international airport (MLA) is served by various charter and scheduled airlines from the UK and the rest of Europe. This is also the arrival point for visitors to Gozo (see below).

You can also reach Malta by Virtu Ferries catamaran from Sicily, a 1.5-hour journey.

From Malta to Gozo:

From the airport you can take an express bus or hire a car to reach Cirkewwa ferrry port (45-minute drive). The boat ride to Gozo's Mgarr port takes 25 minutes; from here you can make use of taxis or buses if you're not driving.
