1. Browse our Cheap & Chic collection

Our Cheap & Chic collection encompasses more than 300 hotels and holiday rentals around the world – everything from sleek city apartments to cosy pubs with rooms to far-flung beach retreats. Most start at well under £100 per room per night, and like the rest of our portfolio they’ve been handpicked and personally reviewed to ensure they meet our high standards.

2. Travel at off-peak times

You can make major savings by travelling outside peak season. The weather might not be quite as hot, but you’ll find much better value and hotel availability – and, if you do your research, you’ll still be able to soak up plenty of Vitamin D. Costa Rica, for example, has its ‘green’ (rainy) season from May to November, but downpours tend to be restricted to early morning and late afternoon, with plenty of sunshine in between.

Similarly, if you’re booking a minibreak, consider a midweek stay or a Sunday night, which are often much cheaper than Fridays and Saturdays.

3. Recruit family and friends

If you’re seeking a good-value villa holiday, consider teaming up with friends or family for a group getaway. Sharing the cost of a large rental with others can work out much cheaper per person than booking a smaller property, and you might find your budget stretches to luxuries such as a private pool or a visiting chef.

4. Consider up-and-coming destinations

There’s also great value to be had if you look beyond the big hitters and seek out newer, up-and-coming destinations. You’ll be rewarded with cheaper rates, and you’ll get to discover an exciting new place before the tourist crowds cotton on. Our favourites for 2017 include Budapest, Portugal’s Beiras Mountains and Alentejo region, and the Pelion and Peloponnese areas of mainland Greece.

5. Look out for extras

Look out for rates which include more than just accommodation. For example, hotels often offer dinner, bed and breakfast packages, which can work out much cheaper than paying for your room and evening meal separately. And remember that many of our partner properties give free perks to guests booking through i-escape – everything from bottles of wine and massages to room upgrades.

6. Make the most of special offers

Last but not least, don’t forget to browse through our special offers. They include discounts of up to 40% – many exclusive to i-escape – and you can search by destination and month.  There are particularly juicy deals for those who plan ahead, with early-bird offers for 2018 already available at numerous hotels around the globe.
