The Old Coastguard, Mousehole, Cornwall

The Old Coastguard has all you need from a Cornish coastal getaway: watery views, cossetting rooms, and superb food. Housed in a former coastguard lookout station, it gazes out across the bay, with lawns tumbling down to the water’s edge. Many of the 14 cheerful rooms have sea views – some facing St Michael’s Mount; children are welcome, as are muddy paws and sandy toes. Downstairs is the friendly restaurant, where Cornish meat, delicious veg and straight-from-the-sea treats are served up on mismatched tables.

The Felin Fach Griffin, Powys, Wales

Just down the road from the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, The Felin Fach Griffin is an award-winning country pub known for its warm, homely welcome and excellent food. The restaurant serves indulgent suppers showcasing what’s in season, and you dine in cosy nooks beneath old timber beams. Upstairs are 8 handsome bedrooms (where dogs are welcome), each with Welsh woollen blankets and retro radios for maximum cosiness.

The Gurnards Head, Zennor, Cornwall

Switch off, kick back and unwind at The Gurnards Head, a charming boutique pub on Cornwall’s north coast. The food here is a welcome step up from your average pub grub – expect Cornish meat and locally-caught fish – and the 8 country-style bedrooms are supremely comfy and cosy. Stone floors, log fires, books and newspapers invite you to relax. This is a lovely base to return to after days out exploring St Ives or Cornwall’s beautiful coastal paths.

  • The winner of the competition will be able to choose a two-night stay, with dinner on the first night, in a ‘Good Double’ room for two people at either The Old Coastguard, The Felin Fach Griffin, or The Gurnards Head.
  • The stay can be taken at any time, subject to availability.
  • Additional nights may be added by arrangement at the cost of the prize winner.
  • The winner will be selected at random and contacted shortly after 30 October 2023.
